The issue of migration is not a new phenomenon in the modern world, but Russia's war against Ukraine in 2022 has escalated this problem into a major challenge for the whole world. According to the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), more than 12.7 million Ukrainians have become forced migrants since February 24, 2022. The majority of these forced migrants are women with children who have sought and found refuge in host countries. In these new environments, they face significant challenges such as language barriers, employment difficulties, social isolation, legal and administrative problems and limited access to education and training. Most of these women have lost their previous employment in Ukraine and have experienced a sharp decline in their social status, which further exacerbates the difficulties they face.

The EU project “Migrant Carriers” is motivated by the need to help these women restart or build their careers in the host country's labor market, give them the opportunity to acquire new skills and take the first steps towards financial independence. This will be achieved by providing women with resources, training opportunities and support strategies aimed at alleviating the negative socio-psychological consequences of unemployment and displacement. Given the unprecedented scale of the crisis and the potential long-term impact, it is essential to invest in solutions that empower and support those most affected. The EU Migrant Carriers project offers a comprehensive and innovative approach to address these urgent challenges and provide appropriate solutions.
